Modular Truck Cap – Configurable Protection for Work & Adventure
The ARE Modular Truck Cap redefines pickup bed versatility with a reconfigurable design that adapts to every job, season, and adventure. Built on our commercial-grade aluminum frame, this system features interchangeable side panels, sliding window sections, and integrated roof rack channels—all accessible without tools.
Whether you’re hauling lumber on Monday or camping gear on Friday, the modular truck cap transforms in minutes to match your load. Weatherproof seals maintain bed protection in every configuration, while the patent-pending QuickLock panel system ensures secure fitment through highway speeds and rough terrain. We designed this cap for contractors, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who refuses to choose between work capability and weekend freedom.
Modular system highlights

Panel System & Configuration Options
The modular truck cap’s core innovation lies in its four-panel architecture. Each sidewall accepts solid aluminum panels for maximum security, tinted sliding windows for ventilation and visibility, expanded metal mesh panels for airflow during equipment transport, or louvered inserts for controlled ventilation without visibility.
Every panel snaps into the frame’s QuickLock channels using spring-loaded cam levers positioned inside the bed rail. Rotate the lever 90 degrees to release, slide the panel out horizontally, and insert your chosen replacement. The entire side reconfiguration takes under three minutes per panel with no fasteners to track or lose.

Roof Rack Integration & Load Management
The cap’s roof features continuous T-track channels running front to back on both sides, spaced 48 inches apart for standard crossbar compatibility. These extruded aluminum tracks accept ARE’s proprietary crossbar system or aftermarket Thule and Yakima bars with T-bolt adapters.
The frame’s reinforced corner posts and cross-bracing support 400 pounds of evenly distributed roof weight, verified through dynamic load testing at highway speeds. Mount kayaks, rooftop tents, ladder racks, or cargo boxes without compromising the cap’s structural integrity or aerodynamic profile.
Weatherproofing & Durability Standards
Every panel interface uses dual-durometer EPDM rubber gaskets that compress against the aluminum frame under cam lever pressure. This creates overlapping seals at each corner and joint, blocking moisture intrusion during pressure washing or driving rain.
We powder-coat all aluminum components with our proprietary ColorMatch system, offering 12 factory colors that correspond to major truck manufacturer paint codes. The finish resists UV degradation, road salt, and abrasion from sliding cargo, backed by our five-year no-fade warranty.

Modular truck cap questions answered
The system offers 16 unique configurations per side using four panel types (solid, window, mesh, louvered). You can mix panel types on the same side or mirror both sides for symmetry. Most customers keep 2-3 panel sets on hand for their most common hauling scenarios. Each panel is sold individually, allowing you to build your collection over time based on actual usage patterns rather than upfront guessing.
Yes, the adjustable C-channel clamps accommodate spray-in liners and drop-in bed liners without modification. The clamps grip the top of the bed rail, sitting above the liner surface. For trucks with stake pocket bed rails, we include filler blocks that ensure level mounting. The cap’s base seal compresses against the bed rail regardless of liner presence, maintaining weatherproof performance.
All panel swaps happen with the cap mounted on the truck bed. Access the QuickLock cam levers from inside the bed, rotate them to release, and slide panels out horizontally. The frame remains secured to the bed rails throughout the process. We designed the system specifically to avoid removing the entire cap for configuration changes, which would require two people and garage space.
The aluminum frame and roof structure carry a lifetime warranty against structural failure or corrosion. Panels, QuickLock mechanisms, and weatherstripping are covered for five years against defects. The powder coat finish is warranted against fade and peel for five years. Wear items like gaskets and cam lever springs are available as replacement parts at standard pricing. The warranty transfers to subsequent owners with proof of purchase.
Independent testing shows a 2-4% improvement in highway fuel economy compared to driving with an open bed, due to improved aerodynamics. The cap’s sloped front profile and integrated rain gutters reduce drag versus traditional boxy caps. Using solid panels versus window or mesh panels shows negligible difference in aerodynamic performance, as the external profile remains constant across configurations.
The rear door frame includes pre-wired connections and a mounting provision for our LED third brake light accessory. The light integrates into the door’s upper frame and connects to your truck’s existing brake light circuit using a plug-and-play harness. Installation adds approximately 15 minutes to the overall cap setup process and requires routing a single wire from the cab through the bed rail channel.
Inspect cam levers monthly and clear any dirt or debris from the pivot points using compressed air. Apply dry PTFE lubricant twice yearly to maintain smooth operation. The system is designed for thousands of panel swaps without parts replacement. If a cam lever becomes difficult to operate, replacement levers install in under five minutes using a single Allen wrench and cost less than aftermarket door handles.
